About Dofus Builds

Dofus Builds is a free build calculator for Dofus 3, made and maintained by a single Dofus player. It exists because planning a character in a spreadsheet is miserable, and because every other option either stopped being updated or asked for money to show you your own numbers.

What the site does

You pick a class and a level, equip items from the complete in-game database, allocate your characteristic points, and the site computes what your character would actually look like: damage per element, resistances, initiative, AP and MP, set bonuses, and the calculated damage of every spell in your class with your gear applied.

Beyond the basics it also covers the parts of build planning that usually get left out — forgemagie edits on individual items, exos and their caps, weapon element conversion, the crafting resources your build would cost, and comparing a candidate item against what you already have equipped.

Everything works without an account. Creating one only adds cloud saving and the ability to publish a build to the public builds page.

Who makes it

The site is built and maintained by Fagner, a Dofus player, as an independent project. It is not a company, not a team, and not backed by anyone. Features get added because players ask for them in the Discord or by email, and the changelog is public so you can see exactly what changed and when.

Where the data comes from

None of the game data is typed in by hand. It is generated from public sources and rebuilt after each Dofus patch:

• Items, sets and crafting recipes come from the DofusDude API, an open Dofus data API. Every item's effects, level, conditions, set membership and recipe are taken from there and baked into a static database the site ships with, so the builder works instantly instead of waiting on network requests.
• Class spells, including their per-rank AP cost, range, critical rate and effect lines, come from dofusbook.net, because no public API exposes class spell data.
• Item images and spell icons are the game's own art, served locally.

All five supported languages — English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and German — get their own copy of the item database, so item names match what you see in your client rather than being translated approximately.

How the calculations are checked

The formulas the site implements are documented publicly in the guides, so you can verify them rather than trusting them. Beyond that, the maths is protected by automated checks that run against every item in all five language databases — one of them fingerprints all 26,000-plus item effects through the stat aggregation code and fails if a refactor changes a single number.

That does not make the site infallible. Dofus is a large game with a great many special cases, and the most likely source of a wrong number is an effect the game words in an unusual way. If a value looks wrong to you, it very possibly is.

Free, and staying free

There is no paywall, no premium tier and no feature reserved for paying users. There never will be. Running the site costs money, so it may carry advertising — but never in a format that interferes with using it: no interstitials, no anchored banners, nothing over the interactive panels.

The site does not use tracking cookies or build advertising profiles. What it stores about you is described plainly in the privacy policy.

The site exists to help players plan characters in a game we all pay to play; if Ankama ever objects to anything here, it comes down.

Staying current

Item and set databases are regenerated after each Dofus patch, typically a few days after release once the upstream data has synced. Notable changes are published in the changelog. There is also a beta version of the site that mirrors the Dofus beta server, so you can plan around upcoming content before it goes live.
