Where to start
If you are new to build planning, read the damage formula first. Almost every decision downstream — which item to equip, whether to convert a weapon, how many points to put into Intelligence — is an argument about where a number lands in that chain, and the rest of these guides assume you have seen it.
If you already know the formula and are stuck on a specific build, the characteristic points guide and the set bonuses guide are the two that most often change how a build is put together, because both describe systems with hard breakpoints that reward planning and punish improvisation.
